Ways to Keep Your Fitness Journey on Track

A fitness journey isn't about just losing weight. It's about learning how to maintain a healthy lifestyle so that you can be the best version of yourself. This is never easy to do and takes a lot of hard work and self-discovery. However, there are some things you can do to help get you through the process a little easier. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Way to Keep Your Fitness Journey on Track

Workout With Friends

Working out with friends can make the exercising more fun and help keep you accountable. Look for fitness classes Ann Arbor MI to try together. Take early morning walks around a park. You'll likely find that having people around you makes exercising something you enjoy.

Use a Fitness Tracker

Tracking your progress along the way can help keep you motivated. Many people choose to wear fitness trackers on their wrist, which tells them information such as how many steps they've taken and how many calories they've burned that day. You can also use an app to help keep track of this information and input the food you've eaten to help give you more accurate results.

Post About It

Posting about your fitness journey online is a great way to keep you motivated while also motivating others. Share your results on social media or start a blog. Let people know what does and does not work for you so that they can give it a shot as well. Having people know that you're working towards your fitness goals can help keep you on track.

Remember that a fitness journey takes time. Don't get discouraged if you aren't always getting the results you want right away. The important thing is to stick with it and keep doing your best. After all, this is a lifestyle change and not just a one time diet.

How to Build the Perfect Playlist

How to Build the Perfect Playlist

Music can set the mood, no matter the occasion. Whether you’re playing jazz classics to give your dinner party a sophisticated ambience or blasting the latest dance-pop tracks for motivation on the treadmill, music is able to provide the soundtrack to different aspects of peoples’ lives.

These days, playlists are one of the most convenient ways to organize music, and there’s no limit to the number of playlists you can create. It can also be surprisingly simple to make the perfect playlist to match your music needs. These tips can help you on your way:

Tailor the Playlist to Your Audience
Crafting your playlist based on who you’re playing it for, like guests at a house party or family barbecue, can help you select the proper vibe, tempo, length and theme. The goal should always be to include songs the majority of your guests will enjoy. Just keep in mind that if you’re relying on a single playlist for an occasion, you’ll want to ensure that it’s long enough to last until the end of the party. A good rule of thumb is at least 30-40 tracks.

Make It Personal
Because different genres and styles of music are available in abundance, your songs and playlists can reflect who you are and the way you feel. A music streaming service like Spotify allows listeners to build personal playlists as well as listen to expert-curated playlists on-demand using its free mobile app.

When taking advantage of those custom features, be sure to clearly identify your lists with ultra-personal names. For example, instead of naming a list “Summer 2018,” go for something like “Favorite Poolside Beats 2018.” If you need help, the service can also help populate the playlist to at least 15 songs by suggesting tracks based on your playlist title and music tastes. Create your own personalized playlist and find more information at Spotify.com.

Mix It Up
Keep people interested with a wide variety of slow and fast, new and classic, and various musical styles. Don’t be afraid to combine genres or decades. This ensures you strike chords among listeners of various ages and backgrounds. When in doubt, add classic crowd-pleasers and chart-topping hits of today.

Update Often
If you’re creating a playlist that you plan to keep going back to, like a workout playlist, keep in mind you can update it whenever you like to keep it fresh. Switching out songs from time to time can make the listening experience more enjoyable.

Collaborate with Others
Allowing friends or guests to have access to your playlist and make their own additions ensures that everyone’s music tastes are represented. Another plus: it’s a fun way to discover hot new tracks and artists your friends and family are listening to.

Find Inspiration
If you’re short on time or just looking for some new ideas, check out pre-existing playlists that are already curated for your occasion. For example, on Spotify you can find options like “Afternoon Acoustic” for relaxing or “Songs to Sing in the Car” for a long road trip to the beach with friends.

Music is both universal and personal, so let your playlists tell a story about you. If you’ll use the list for entertaining, sprinkle in some extra flavor with tracks that appeal to the broader group or specific guests, and just like that, you have a winning playlist for your next party.

5 Exercises to Get That C-Shaped Butt

I don't know about you, but I have always wanted that perfect C-Shaped Butt. Not this flabby, flat thing I have going on. Here are 5 Exercises to Get That C-Shaped Butt that I bet you want to!

Sprints

Short distance runners have amazing legs and an equally amazing backside. When you start and stop running on a dime it works out your gluteus maximus, quads, and hamstrings. Sprint Workout: Sprint for 15 seconds or about 75 feet then rest for 15 seconds. Repeat 10 times.

Squats

There are a few different types of squats that help you get that coveted C-Shaped Butt. You can do a combination of regular where your feet are shoulder-width apart, or plie squats where your feet are 2 feet apart. The last one to do is a jump squat. With a jump squat you do a regular squat and then jump up reaching for the sky, landing back down in a squat. Squat Workout: Do 10 reps of each of the three types of squats without resting in between. After a full round of all three, rest for one minute. Repeat 5 times.

Lunges

Lunges work the entire leg muscle and especially your quads and butt. You can do both forward and side lunges to work different parts of the leg to achieve that lifted butt.
Lunge Workout: Do 10-15 reps of both a forward and a side lunge, rest for one minute after each round. Repeat 3 times. As you get stronger, add in dumbbells into the routine.

Leg Lifts

Lay down on your back and keep your legs together and straight. Lift them up so they are perpendicular to your body. Slowly lower them back down to the ground without touching the ground and then lift them back up. Leg Lift Workout: 10-15 reps with resting for one minute after each round. Repeat 3 times.

Lotus Crunches

Lay down on the floor and let your legs fall to the sides where your feet are touching, ball to heel - like the Lotus position in yoga. Place your hands on the side of your head, but don't pull on your neck when you come up for the crunch. Do a crunch where you lift your chest 4-6" off the ground.
Lotus Crunches Workout: 15-20 reps with a one minute rest in between each round. Repeat 3 times. Gaiam Yoga Mat $17.99

Five Abdominal Exercises That Aren't Crunches

When people think of abdominal exercises, the first thing that comes to mind are crunches. However, there are a myriad of exercises that are more effective than crunches for strengthening your core and toning up. Here are five abdominal exercises that aren't crunches you can try the next time you're at the gym:

Toe Taps: This sounds easy but you'll feel this in your abs and lower back. It's a Pilates exercise that focuses on the lower abdominals. Lie on your back and have your legs up and in a 90 degree angle. Press your lower back into the floor (and maintain this throughout), then tap one toe on the floor, bring back up into 90 degrees, then tap the other. Make sure to press your lower back into the floor throughout the exercise - you don't want your back to arch.

Planks: There are so many plank variations you can start adding into your routine. The typical plank involves you getting on your elbows and making sure your back is completely straight. If you want to test this, have someone place a rod or foam roller on your back. If it falls off, it means you're not aligned properly. Your head, neck and back should all be in line with each other. Here's a video tutorial. Other variations include side planks, side planks with reach through, single arm/single leg planks, and rocking planks.

Pallof Presses: This exercise hits your entire core. If you suffer from anterior pelvic tilt, this is a key exercise to fix that problem. This one does require a cable machine. Here's a video tutorial. Remember to engage your core and keep your hips tucked as you perform this exercise (as opposed to a pelvic tilt). Don't let your body twist at all, and as you improve, increase the weight on the cable. You'll probably also feel this one in your arms!

Reverse Planks: Usually, planks are done face down, on your elbows and toes. However, with this plank variation, you'll be face up. If you're a beginner, you'll be planking on your hands. With your fingers facing forward, lift your hips up (and keep your entire body in line) and hold for 30-60 seconds. You can also make this a dynamic exercise by lifting, holding for a second or two, lowering, then repeating. This move targets your back, glutes and hamstrings, which are actually all part of your core musculature as well. (Video Tutorial)

Reverse Crunches: This is another great exercise to do if you have anterior pelvic tilt. You'll feel this in your lower abs and back. If you're new to this exercise, place a heavy object behind your head (like a kettlebell). Once you get stronger, you'll be able to do it without any weight behind your head. Lie down on your back, hold onto the object with your elbows tucked by your ears, then crunch your knees in to touch your elbows. Don't swing/use momentum. Focus on solely using your core. Bring knees back down into a 90 degree angle and repeat. (Video Tutorial)

Add these exercises into your routine to work on your abdominal strength. A strong core is important for injury prevention and in creating a well-balanced athlete. Do a combination of these exercises 2-3 times a week.

Why Every Woman Needs A Good Set of Smartballs!

Note: This is a sex toy review. 21+ only please.

I was privileged enough to get to review Smartballs from Good Vibrations. I have read about Kegel Exercises and have always been curious if they would work for me. Then my DO suggested them after the birth of Baby El'. I found Smartballs to be the right tool for working out those extra special muscles.

What are Kegel Exercises? They are exercises that strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, which of course upport your uterus and bladder. If you preform them regularly it is said that you can reduce your risk of incontinence later in life.

We have been using our Smartballs from Good Vibrations in conjunction with our Kegel exercises for right at three weeks now. We have definitely seen an improvement in holding our bladder which has been an increasing problematic issue with every birth. That is not the only thing we have seen great improvements in though. Yes, we also can control our muscles during intercourse. This not only helps intensive our partners experience but ours as well. We can intensive our orgasms as well as increase the length and frequency.

Smartballs are the perfect size for Kegel Exercises at 1 1/4 inch in diameter. They come in an assortment of colors. Smartballs from Good Vibrations are completely coated in high-quality elastomer making them super soft to the touch. This feature made them easier to for us to use, especially during the first few times.

I found them to be very easy to clean. Just wash with warm, soapy (we use the same as we do on our skin) water. Pat dry with a clean towel and store in a cool, dry area (ours are kept in the panty drawer of course).

Please note that Good Vibrations also mentions that Smartballs can be placed on the top rack of the dishwasher. Now that is a pretty cool feature!

You can get your own set of Smartballs from Good Vibrations, retail $30.

I say money well spent ladies!

Also visit to find out what the hottest sex toys are today at Good Vibrations. These products have been proven to be the most popular with Good Vibes customers over the past few months.

We disclose: This item(s) was provided to me by Good Vibrations  for the purpose of review. I was not paid for my personal opinion of this product contained in this review.

How Tapout XT Home Training Program Stacks Up

Working out is a passion, and it takes true dedication to work out on your own. People often rely on an expensive membership to a fancy gym to stay in shape. Working out from home has its merits. There is comfort, privacy and ability to blast music as loud as you want while going hard. Tapout XT is an MMA workout that allows you to burn hundreds of calories, build muscle and shed fat without going to the gym.

What It Claims To Do Vs. What It Does

This workout DVD claims to help you condition to be in shape like an MMA fighter. You will shed fat, build muscle and gain tons of endurance while using this program. The claims aren't overly optimistic, and this DVD does work wonders. It's intense enough to keep me interested, but it isn't so hard that it is impossible to do.

Workouts Included

There are 12 workouts included in this intense routine. You are encouraged to mix them up to create an at-home routine that is perfect for you. This is the major benefit of using this program over the others that are out there. Diversity is important for maintaining an interest in the workout routine. If you get bored, there is no point in continuing. There are strength and cardio routines. There's even a yoga XT to boost flexibility. This can be extremely beneficial for improving coordination and reflexes when fighting.

The Diet

You can't exercise your way out of a bad diet. The diet for this program is easy to follow and healthy. It helps you boost fat burning to get the body that you want. Compared to competitors, it is definitely a better program to follow. You won't starve. You will get all of the fuel you need to perform harder, faster and better.

Can You Stick With It?

The exciting thing about Tapout XT is that it is very enjoyable even after 90 days of consistently using the program. Most programs get boring quickly. Older DVDs on the market feel repetitive and dull after about two weeks of using them. Tapout XT stays engaging and fun. You want to master each workout, and that can be hard to achieve in just 90 days. This keeps you coming back to see more results. It is motivational all on its own, and that's a great thing for an at-home program. It's worth a shot if you love to exercise, but you want privacy and to avoid gym costs.

Phat QR Rx Anti Cellulite Deep Tissue Massager Review

What is cellulite? Cellulite affects 90 percent of women and 10 percent of men, mostly in industrial nations. As women start approaching menopause, estrogen starts decreasing. From 25 to 35 is when we start seeing the appearance of cellulite. Estrogen has an impact on the blood vessels. When estrogen starts to decrease, we lose receptors in blood vessels and thighs, so we have decreased circulation. With decreased circulation we get less oxygen and nutrition to that area, and with that we see a decrease in collagen production…. At that time fat cells start becoming larger, they begin protruding through the collagen and cellulite starts showing up. Also as we get older we tend to get less active and consume more of the “comfort foods” that usually is full of trans fats and sugars. Cellulite is a collection of stagnant fat cells underneath of skin that needs to be broken down by frequent massaging that improves circulation. Exercise and sensible diet is another “trick” that works, but not all of us like this “trick”.

Phat QR Rx Anti Cellulite Deep Tissue Massager is here to offer a short cut. It’s a simple device that replaces a massage terapist and expensive lazer treatments. Can be used by anyone on any part of the body. How it works? It’s a hand held device constructed with 7 deep set metal spheres that roll on your skin and provide deep tissue massage improving circulation and delivering oxygen to the stagnant cells. It breaks down bulging and uneven fat cells “ironing” out the surface of the skin. Now it comes with rust resistant metal spheres so it can be used in and out of shower. However, for the best upkeep of your massager, please keep it dry when it’s not in use.

Firm and Tone with the Hip Hop Abs Workout

Hip Hop Abs Workout – Burn fat and sculpt flat, sexy abs with , Shaun T’s revolutionary ab-sculpting system set to hot music that makes you want to move!
Beware Hip Hop Abs is not for the inexperienced, over-weight person like me. This is an intense workout mixed with popular music and loads of fun. While I really enjoy going through the routines, I am lucky to make it 15 minutes. I am not giving up though! Over time I will regain muscle and stamina and be able to keep up with the best of them. For now, Hip Hop Abs is on my Tuesday/Thursday 15 minute slot.
Keep in mind that Hip Hop Abs is not only fun but it contains the kind of music and trainer attitude that makes you want to keep going. From the start of the session, I feel energized and ready to get to movin’! There is nothing that I don’t love about the way Shawn T teaches. If nothing else this is by far one of the only fitness DVDs I have that I get excited about working out to again and again.

Jennifer Gianni’s Fusion Pilates DVD Set Review

Want a SAFE and EFFECTIVE pre and post-natal workout?
Want easy delivery? Want your pre-pregnant body back?

Jennifer Gianni’s Fusion Pilates for Pre & Post Natal DVD Series is a comprehensive, safe, and effective solution for your fitness needs before, during, and after pregnancy. The four DVD’s in this great series are designed to keep women fit and safe before, through all stages.
Even though it has been more than a year since my Elliot was born and with no pregnancy planning in sight, I found the triple threat to be an more than intense workout on my overall body. While working along with the dvd I realized just how stiff my body really was. The next day I felt like I had attached my hands and legs to ropes and said pull. After workout too this had lessened and I felt like even my daily movements were more limber and smooth. I plan to continue working the Fusion Pilates Triple Treat two times a week to help regain some balance in my overall stance.
My favorite DVD of this collection is Exercising with Baby. Even at age one Elliot is still a willing participant and enjoys this time with mom. Now he is 23 pounds at this point and some of the activities can be harder than when starting with a newborn. If I could go back in time, this would be at the top of my must have list for the baby shower. It is really a fun workout for mom and baby.
The DVD set overall were nicely instructional. I did not feel pushed past any typical workout limits. In fact this would be ideal for a beginner.
BUY IT: Purchase Jennifer Gianni’s Fusion Pilates DVD(s) each or as a set of four directly fromhttp://fusionpilates.com.

Kigo Curv, the workout to everyday wear shoe that a girl can love!

I seem to wear shoes all day long and hate the bulk of a regular tennis shoe. So when I found kigo I was excited to try their curv style in hopes that it would minimize some of the things that make me dread putting on shoes in the more.

The first thing I noticed about the curv was weight. They are a very, very light shoe both on and off. To be honest it feels like I am wearing just the weight of an everyday sock. This is great considering I am on the go and in shoes from 7am till 7pm daily.

Kigo curv is also the most flexible shoe I have every touched (besides baby slippers of course). The allow me to move naturally, bending just as my foot does with each movement and stride. No matter if I am walking or running, they keep up with every step I take.
